01 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
02 - Place two bread slices buttered side down. Layer two cheese slices on each. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
03 - Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
04 - Cook sandwiches for 3-4 minutes per side. Press gently with spatula until golden brown and cheese is melted.
05 - Remove from pan and let rest 1 minute. Cut in halves or quarters. Serve immediately.
