Red White Blue Ice Cubes (Printable)

Layer blueberries, coconut, and strawberries in trays to create patriotic red, white, and blue ice cubes for summer drinks.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# Steps:

01 - Wash all fruits thoroughly, hull and chop strawberries, and portion blueberries and coconut.
02 - Fill each ice cube compartment one-third full with blueberries. Pour in blueberry juice to just cover the berries. Freeze for 1 hour until set.
03 - After the blue layer is firm, add a layer of coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut. Pour coconut water to fill the next third. Freeze for an additional hour until solid.
04 - Top each compartment with chopped strawberries. Fill the rest with strawberry or cranberry juice. Freeze until fully set, about 2 hours.
05 - Once completely frozen, remove the ice cubes and use to chill drinks such as lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Friends will think you spent hours making these, but they're as easy as pouring juice and chopping fruit.
  • The layers melt into a playful splash of color that turns even plain sparkling water into something festive.
02 -
  • I once rushed and poured too much liquid, which blurred my layers—less is more with each pour.
  • Switching to fresh coconut meat instead of shredded gave my cubes a bolder, cleaner white layer that held together better.
03 -
  • Lining up all the prepped fruits first makes layering faster and less messy.
  • Add the fruit before the juice each time to keep layers even and prevent them from floating to the top.
